Madikeri or Mercara, the capital of Coorg is a beautiful large hill town situated in Western Ghats. This hill station stands 1452 meters above sea level. The green woody slopes, colourful scenery, misty mountains, cascading falls, dense tropical forest, tea, coffee and spice plantations made this place a paradise of nature lovers.

Chellavara fall

Chelavara is a wide and milky waterfall in Kodagu district. Chelavara Falls is a serene waterfall created by a tributary of river Kaveri, with a 150 ft drop over a rock said to resemble the shape of a tortoise. Chelavara is located in Cheyyandane village, off Talakaveri-Virajapete road, State Highway 90.
Chelavara Waterfalls can be visited during any time of the day. However, the water is about 100 meters deep with unpredictable rock profile at the bottom, making Chelavara Falls unsafe for bathing or swimming.

Irpu Waterfalls

Bluebell is to bring together our visitor's societies and spirits with our own, communicating enthusiasm and liberality.Irpu falls (Irupu Falls) runs down through the Bhramagiri hills located in Kutta village of Kodagu. It is a stream of Lakshmana-Theertha river and also a sacred place. The water jets from about 60m high and finally joins river Cauvery. The famous temple of Lord Shiva, known as the Rameshwara Temple, is situated nearby. Wandering beyond the falls is restricted as the whole place is termed as wildlife sanctuary.

Tadiandamol peak

The highest peak in the Coorg region and the second highest in Karnataka, Tadiyendamol is a trekker’s paradise. Located at an elevation of 1,748 m, the gentle slopes and grassy terrain lure you with their scenic charm and serene ambience. A major attraction here is the Padi Igguthappa Temple. Igguthappa is the main deity of the native Kodavas and here the deity is worshipped as the ‘Giver of Grain’.

At a distance of 3 km from Kakkabe & 35 km from Madikeri, the Paadi Iguthappa Temple is a sacred Hindu temple situated at Kakkabe in Coorg district of Karnataka. It is considered to be the most important temple of the Kodavas and also one of the best places of Pilgrimage in Coorg.

Talakaveri

At a distance of 9 km from Bhagamandala & 44 km from Madikeri, Talacauvery is the origin of the Cauvery River in Karnataka. It is situated on the slopes of the Brahmagiri mountain ranges near Bhagamandala at an altitude of 1276 m. It is one of the best places to visit in Coorg and is among prime place to visit on a Coorg trip.
At Talacauvery, there is a square tank called Cauvery Kundike or Brahma Kundike, which is considered to be the birth place of River Cauvery. Here, River Cauvery emerges as a perennial spring and disappears underground. River Cauvery again emerges at Nagathirtha near Bhagamandala and joins with Kannike and Sujyoti at Triveni Sangam. Bhagamandala is the meeting of three rivers and is also referred to as Triveni Sangam

Bylakuppe (A Tibetan settlement with a monestery)

The Namdroling Monastery, popularly referred to as ‘The Golden Temple’ is one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India. Located in Bylakuppe, about 5 kms from Kushalanagara in Kodagu district, The Golden Temple complex is home to about 16000 refugees and 600 monks .

Raja seat (Madikeri)

The Raja’s Seat in Madikeri town, the spot from where kings of yore watched sunsets with their consorts, could be considered as one of the most scenic spots in south India. The spot offers a breathtaking view of towering hills, green valleys, studded with paddy fields. It is fascinating to watch the road to Mangalore like a curved ribbon lying in the valley. The Raja’s Seat, which means the “Seat of Kings”, is a brick and mortar structure with four pillars, was a spot from where the kings of Coorg watched glorious sunsets. The Karnataka government has developed a garden around the Raja’s Seat.

Dubare Elephant Camp

What is it about elephants that brings out the child in everyone of us? Is it their gentle countenance that goes against the grain of their massive build? Or is it, we’ve all had, at some point in our lives? The Dubare Elephant Camp is a must-experience for the elephant lover in you. Karnataka’s history with elephants, goes a long way back and currently the state’s Forest Department has about 150 elephants in various camps. But in the recent past, after logging operations were ceased, there was a situation of freshly unemployed elephants.
